Out of all the teams Sun Risers Hyderabad has got the least fan base. Fans have less excitement for SRH match compared to Mumbai and Chennai. Two reasons are primarily responsible for this. No star players in the side and never been able to create Wonders. Inclusion Yuvraj Singh will solve the first reason. Second one is yet to be known.
Both the telugu states have only one team together to cheer for. So Fan base is expected to be more. But SRH never had Die hard fane. Since its debut in 2013,they have not managed to pull fans to stadium. No matter how many foreign stars you have in your squad ,You need to have Indian stars in your team. Shikhar Dhawan is the only player from Indian team playing for SRH. Absence of Impact players like De Villiers, Gayle, Shewag is a huge disadvantage. This year SRH would expects much more affinity from fans after acquiring Yuvraj Singh.
In the inaugural edition of IPL, Deccan chargers( now Sun risers) stood last in points table even having big stars. The same team won the following edition of IPL under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. In the last two editions, SRH finished 6th of Eight teams.
Team Selection
SRH has unusual style of selection. They shelled huge money for Trent Boult even after having Steyn in the squad. they filled the squad with excess fast bowler. In Indian conditions, Tea cannot afford to have more than two frontline pacers in the line-up.
This year they released Steyn and Irfan pathan prior to auction. They spent significant amount on left arm pacers this season. Having Boult in team already, they purchased Ashish nehra and Mustafizur Rehman this season. Batting department is also filled with left handers in the form of David Warner, Eoin Morgan, Dhawan
