Boxing Day test: Match story

Match Story: Australia Vs Pakistan Second test

Second test between Australia and Pakistan is also a miraculous one like the first One. It’s a  rarity for a team to lose after scoring beyond 400 in first innings. There were only three instances before the last five tests in test history  when a  when a team batted first lost after scoring four in excess of four hundred. In Last first test matches held across the globe.Thrice it has happened. Mitchell starc was the star of the day. He shared a 150 run partnership with skipper Steve smith. He came back and produced a magical spell which presented an innings victory for the home side. He was presented man of the match for his all round performance on final day.

Pakistan once again proved to be unpredictable

Pakistan had a different conclusion to their test matches. They started their year with number one position. Now they finish the year with number 5 position. India is currently in Number one position followed by South Africa. South Africa has won the first test against SriLanka in Sun foil Bileteral series. Pakistan skipper also said that he is considering retirement

Australia

Australia have gone for the kill. They tried only to win even after Pakistan have batted for almost three Days. They scored at brisk pace and attained a of 200. David Warner gave Aussies a blazing start. They have in excess of 250 in the first fifty overs. Steve Smith was unbeaten on 165. Usman Khawaja fell short of century by 6 runs. Mitchell Starc’s quick fire 80 had proved to be instrumental in Aussies Victory. He  picked up a four wicket haul in the second innings of Pakistan. He managed to pick up one wicket only in the first innings. Now Mitchell starc becomes leading wicket taker in 2016 with 50 scalps. Starc only played 9 test matches in this calendar year. He is followed by Stuart Broad, Who has 48 scalps. Third is emerging payer Kagiso Rabada from South Africa.

After two consecutive victories for Australia in two tests. Third test loses much of its significance. Third will commence from 3rd of January. Nic Madinson was dropped from third test. Steve o Keefe from Sydney has been called as replacement player.

Code Your Way Corner Handle Divide-By-Zero Error In SQL

The idea here is that, as with any other form of math that we know of, we cannot divide by zero in a SQL call. Therefore, running this code :

 SELECT  ( 3765 / 0 ) AS value  ;

if  you ever tried this , result of SQL server would be  :

To prevent this sort of error from being thrown, author Hugo Kornelis suggests using a NULLIF() in the divisor of the equation. NULLIF() takes two arguments and returns NULL if the two values are the same and can be used to turn the divisor from a zero into a NULL which, in turn, will force the entire equation to become NULL

  SELECT  ( 3765/ NULLIF( 0, 0 ) ) AS value  ;

Therefore, while we try running modified query (as above) , we would end up getting Null Object , which reduces the risk of handling divide by zero :

NULLIF(0,0) returns NULL since zero is equal to zero , which makes SQL statement to return NULL . Till this point its pointless example since both zero values are hard coded .

But imagine if in case it was a user-centered value , or a SQL aggregate or any other calculated  value it would be of great help in handling error.

What if we want a default value when there is NULL ? It's just simple . Just use another inbuilt function like ISNULL() or COALESCE() . Query and Result would look like :

Explanation :
We are performing division in inner-query , but then if it returns NULL , then ISNULL() function would catch it and return Zero as default value .

This would be handy for those who runs tons of reports on DB table.

Australia Vs Pakistan Live scorecard, Preview

First of the three test matches between Pakistan and Aussies has started today. Gabba will host the inaugural test match of the series. Steve Smith will lead the side and Misbah ul haq will lead Pakistan.

Pitch Report

Gabba is a track where one can expect a proper contest between bat and ball. It is a track where 500 is achievable on good odds. Aussies are definitely the favorites against the sub continent side, Whichever team wins the toss will undoubtedly opt to bat first. It is not the first test both teams are involved in a day and night tset match.  Gabba has been  a lucky mascot for the hosts. It been 28 years since kangaroos have lost a test match at Gabba.

Pakistan

Mohammed Amir has been very unfortunate since his comeback. Most of the catches dropped are of his bowling. Misbah ul Haq is expected to announce retirement to post the series.  Pakistan recently drawn a series in England against England. No one can doubt the credentials of Pakistani Bowling, But do they have the batting to compete Aussies. Azar Ali is not expected to play the test match. They have recently won a series against West Indies as well. They have undoubtedly got the best spinner among both the teams. Wahab Riaz can be threatening on Australian tracks..

Australia

Australia has tasted a defeat in their last test series, Which was played against South Africa. But they have won a three match ODI series against New Zealand after the loss. Australian batting is highly reliant on Top 4. Their middle order is vulnerable to quality bowling. Jackson bird might play the first test. Nic Madison is also expected to be a part of playing side. Smith is  in outstanding form.Mitchell stark will lead the pace attack with Josh Hazelwood, who has increased his pace in recent times.

Crictime Prediction

Australia to win the series

Misbah to top score in Pakistan batting order
